Red Cross teams provided access to safe drinking water and carried out hygiene promotion activities in affected communities. Several actions have been carried out, such as the installation of 2 water treatment plants and water distribution points, the distribution of jerry cans of water on the islands of Efate and Tanna and hygiene kits throughout the area. The teams also provided access to basic necessities and emergency shelter, distributing "family kits" consisting of a shelter kit as well as kitchen utensils, two floor mats and a solar lamp. In addition, an awareness-raising campaign was organized among communities that received shelter kits. Families were able to attend specific training sessions in order to guide them in the design of the house and its layout.
