Venezuela earthquakes: the Rescue & Recover Fund activated

On 24 June, two powerful earthquakes struck northern Venezuela, devastating communities in Caracas and the surrounding areas.

The human and material toll continues to rise in a country already facing severe humanitarian crisis.

CARE, a partner of the Rescue and Recover Fund, has mobilised its teams to help affected communities.

Support from the Rescue & Recover Fund will enable them to respond to the urgent needs.
For every donation made, BNP Paribas will double its amount.

Let's help most vulnerable adapt to climate change!

On Giving Tuesday, the Rescue & Recover Fund have launched  its end-of-year campaign and was mobilised around two of its partner NGOs: CARE and the French Red Cross, to help these populations become more resilient to climate change.

All donations made on Tuesday 2 December, were tripled by BNP Paribas and then doubled until the end of the campaign on 31 December.

  • At CARE, the supported project will enable families in the northern provinces of Thailand to adapt to climate change through, among other things, better management of water, forests and agricultural land.
  • The programme launched by the French Red Cross aims to ensure better preparedness of communities for disasters, via the Regional Response Platforms available to French Red Cross in the Indian Ocean, the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean.

Cyclone in Mayotte

Eur 593,804 for our partners' actions on the ground

On Saturday, 14 December 2024, the department of Mayotte was hit hard by tropical cyclone Chido.
Wind gusts of more than 200 km/h were recorded, accompanied by torrential rains, ravaging the archipelago as a whole.

The needs of the populations affected by this disaster were enormous.

CARE, the French Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders, supported by the Rescue & Recover Fund, were able to intervene to help the victims.

Access to water, a fundamental human right!

Eur 406,988 to support our partners' actions

On Tuesday, 3 December 2024, the Rescue & Recover Fund have launch its end-of-year campaign and was mobilised to support access to water.

What were the projects supported?

  • CARE: access to water for children in the Amoron'i Mania region of Madagascar.
  • The French Red Cross: access to water for vulnerable populations in French overseas territories.
  • Doctors Without Borders: access to water for displaced persons in Haiti.

Floods in Spain

Eur 826,649 for the Spanish Red Cross' actions in the ground.

On the night of Tuesday 29 to Wednesday 30 October 2024, south-eastern Spain was hit by violent flooding.
39 municipalities were affected, with more than 650 000 people affected, mainly in the regions of Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia.

The donations made were directly affected locally through our NGO partner the French Red Cross.

Support from the Rescue & Recover Fund enabled the Spanish Red Cross to act as quickly as possible and to respond to the first emergencies.

Help women in extreme poverty and victims of violence

 Eur 266,286 to support our partners' actions

In 2023, the Rescue & Recover Fund's year-end campaign mobilised to help women in extreme poverty and victims of violence by funding three projects run by its partner NGOs.

  • Access to healthcare for women and children in the remote Bamiyan region of Afghanistan.
  • Fight against Exclusion in France.
  • Provision of health services for women survivors of gender-based violence in Togo.

Earthquake in Morocco

Eur 533,174 for our partners' actions on the ground

On Friday, 8 September 2023, at 11 p.m. local time, an earthquake of magnitude 6.8 struck Morocco. 

2,946 people lost their lives, the vast majority in the provinces of Al-Haouz, the epicentre, and Taroudant. 5,674 people were injured, 50,000 homes destroyed and 300,000 people affected.

The French Red Cross - through the Moroccan Red Crescent - and CARE - through its local branch CARE Maroc - supported by the Rescue & Recover Fund, were able to intervene quickly in support of those affected.
